Gafoor changes name in asset transfer

One of the UK’s largest halal meat suppliers has changed its name, following a transfer of company assets.

According to a report in World Poultry, Gafoor Poultry Products has been re-established as Gafoor Pure Halal, following a so-called “pre-packaged administration sale”.

This involves transferring the assets to a new company, which may be owned by an existing director.

Broiler producers supplying Gafoor confirmed they had been notified of the name change and given new bank details.

Accounts filed by Gafoor in January for the year ending October 2010 showed profits of £1.4m (€1.8m) and a turnover of more than £52.4m (€66.5m). The poultry processor handles around 450,000 birds each week and, according to the report, the transfer of assets has safeguarded some 150 jobs.
