About Emily
I grew up and studied in the countryside, and have been mad on farming and all it's affiliated industries since my early teens.
Although I'm not from a farming family, I'm passionate about all farming stands for and have always aimed to learn from the bottom up rather than keeping my head in textbooks. This has involved it's fair share of mishaps, trials and tribulations - but equally it's impassioned me even more.
How did I end up on the Farmers Weekly machinery desk? Well, unusually - I am a girl who has an unhealthy obsession with all pieces of kit, from foragers to muckspreaders, tractors to quads - if it's made of metal and belongs on a farm then I'm interested.
I also count myself as being incredibly lucky in having found a job I adore. Travelling around looking at all sorts of machinery must be the best job in the industry!
If you have any questions, get in touch - same goes for ideas for story ideas and general machinery tittle-tattle.
For an idea of what I test, here are some pictures...

Hello
I am interested to know your thoughts.
It seems that following the introduction of the EU directive 2006/42/CE all tractors fitted with a front loader will have to have some kind of protection system to prevent the possibility of objects falling on the operator. A ROPS or FOPS is not sufficient.
Also the manufacturer must take into account when carrying out a risk assessment, not only normal usage of the tractor and loader, but also all reasonably foreseeable misuse of the tractor and loader that could result in injury from falling objects.
Therefore it is my opinion that the only way to cover this is if all tractors fitted with front loaders are also fitted with a cab.
Do you think this is a feasable proposition?
Are there situations where a cab could be more of a hindrance?
Do you think that users would accept a cab all of the time?
Do you know what are the most common accidents to operators when using tractors fitted with a front loader?
Many thanks
Steve
Too bad he doesn't live near Boston. I know a woman near his age that can't seem to find the right guy. And she has an excellent job, too.
Hello, this is a genuinelysuperb put up. In principle I'd liketo jot down like this too - taking time and real energy to create a great write-up... but what can I say.!!!. I procrastinate alot and never appear to have something done. Thank You
