John Deere walking tractor

No one could've predicted that the rise of the robots would begin in Ashdown forest

Stumbled across this on youtube - it's about 17secs footage of a walking "tractor" apparently built by John Deere.

Don't know much about it or what it might be used for, but it's quite cool.

Anyone know anything more about it? Tell me ...

Education of our nation

Mr Foodchain was attending a Farmers Market Conference yesterday and heard a rather amusing/scary anecdote courtesy of a chap from FACE.

Basically the FACE man had been coordinating a school visit to a farm and at the end of the day the kids were making their way back to the coach when the farmer said to the school teacher:

“We’re just about to milk the cows. If you’re not in rush perhaps the children would like to see the process?”

To which she replied: “Oh no! I couldn’t possibly expose them to that much blood.”

“Sorry,” replied the farmer. “What blood?”

To teacher responded: “Well, you have to kill the cows to get the milk out, don’t you?”

True story, apparently.

Farming celebrations!!

SC: It is that time of year again, when the great and good of farming are celebrated in the Farmers Weekly Awards. The celebrations, this year based at The Grosvenor hotel, will be hosted by the lovely Fiona Bruce, and will involve highlighting the great achievements of a diverse range of farmers who have contributed in individual ways to their chosen profession.

This year will be my first, so i hope the head won't be too bad tommorow to tell you how it all went!!
