My mouth is salivating at the prospect of getting home tonight and tasting some doughy pancake goodness.
I must admit that when it comes to pancakes I am a staunch traditionalist, enjoying nothing more than lemon and lashings of sugar.
Others in the office, however, have more unusual pancake tastes, some intriguing, some just plain strange ideas. Here are some of the suggestions:
• Nutella chocolate spread and chopped nuts
• Apple puree, blackcurrant and ice cream
• Little Chef’s Jubilee cherry pancake (Miss Deputy News Editor almost drove to Little Chef thinking about it)
• butter and salt (urgh)
• cheese and bolognaise (each to their own)
• Strawberries and ice cream (a second favourite of mine)
• Roast beef, horseradish and watercress
• Ratatouille
• Orange cream and brandy
• Prawns in cream (ambitious but potentially nice)
• Chocolate with cream and brandy
• Stewed apple and cinnamon
The most bizarre idea came from our News Editor, who knows someone who enjoys pancakes topped with peanut butter and tomato. I really have no response to such tastes…:-)
