Dogs killed £2m-worth of sheep

DOGS killed sheep worth more than £2 million last year, according to the insurance arm of the National Farmers Union.

It said sheep-worrying deaths rose by 20% to more than 22,000 animals.

The attacks were blamed on uncontrolled dogs allowed to run free on the edges of towns and cities.

Most of the trouble spots were on farms around Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Blackburn, Cardiff and Swansea.
