A farming friend sent me the following email over the weekend. Neither he nor I wish it to be thought of as a slur on any religion. But it does seem to fit current climatic aberations that are playing havoc with harvest.
In deference to The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Commission for Political Correctness it has just been announced that weather conditions in the UK may no longer be referred to as "The British Weather".
In future it should be referred to as "Muslim Weather" - partly Sunni but mostly Shi'ite.

David, a while ago in an article you mentioned a very goodwebsite about www.peakfood.co.uk I would like to suggest you also take a look at www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net It is very interesting and from it I have bought 2 books, Overshoot and also Living Within Limits. These books need making compulsary reading for everyone before we get too far down the wrong road. You need to talk about; carrying capacity, cargoism, hubberts peak, ghost acreage from drawdown of the earths resources, cowboy economics, economists versus ecologists, overshoot and die off. I warn it is compulsive once you start. for eg. the GNP does not take nature into consideration, and we have not been doing an opening and closing valuation in our accounts each year, so the effects of the drawdown of depleting north sea reserves doesn't show in the accounts. We have actually been making a much bigger loss than realised.

Many thanks Peter. I shall look up the books (when harvest and associated friustrations allow) and get hold of copies to read during the autumn. Sounds, from your description of what they say, like I shall have my head in them continuously when they arrive. Sounds too like other users would do well to do the same. The more people become aware of the extent to which we are being mis-governed the more likely it is that the nation will rise up and demand changes
