ANOTHER AMBASSADOR FOR AGRICULTURE
A few months ago Adam Henson was named Farmers Weekly farmer of the year for his excellent reports from his farm on the BBC TV programme Countryfile. And what a worthy winner he was. His down to earth, yet readily understandable approach to farming issues must have done much to improve the image of our industry among consumers.
Last night yet another Countryfile presenter did a favour to farming when he came runner up in Strictly Come Dancing. Matt Baker put on a series of superb performances on the programme and was only just pipped for the title by an inspired Kara Tointon.
But everyone knows Matt is a farmers son and that his Mum is County Organiser of Northumberland's Young Farmers. The fact that he can dance like a dream and is transparently such a genuine chap will not have been lost on the 12 or was it 14 million viewers of the final last night and our whole industry will have gained from his personal triumph.
Well done Matt. And thanks for what you are doing for farming on Countryfile as well as Strictly.
