Bank Holiday weekend

My bank holiday started at 5.30pm on Saturday afternoon, and finishes tonight. We had a very busy day on Saturday with higher orders than we expected to get through the potato packhouse and a lot of flowers to harvest. So with our customers happy, the coldstore full of flowers and a forecast of cool, wet weather for the weekend, we decided not to crop any flowers today and to wait until tomorrow (Monday).

We normally work right through the weekends at this time of year so I have tried to make the most of the break. I dashed down to North Norfolk last night to stay with friends and then headed back to Lincolnshire this morning for the christening of my friends' little boy.

Even though it was spent in one of my favourite pubs, the weekend has still been productive - My friends and I usually reach our creative peak after a couple of pints of beer. (Let's not forget, I was under the influence of alcohol when I first invented Roller Stilts TM.)

Stuart was a couple of pints ahead of me when I arrived. If you keep reading this blog, you will inevitably hear a great deal more about Stuart. He is a farmer, a stockman, a butcher, a schooldinnerlady and a blog sceptic all rolled into one energetic and entrepreneurial package. His latest idea is to sell sausages on a shopping channel. We pontificated on the merits of the idea until Sadie noticed how grubby his fingernails were. These channels would need close ups of the sausages and they dirty digits might turn off the punters.

You can't keep a good man down. Stuart will find a way around the problem and something tells me it won't involve a manicure.
