Blow me, the new fans are going

Our new daffodil bulb drying system is finally operational. The fans looked enormous and I was terrified that when we switched them on they would inhale all the local wildlife and ...

provoke complaints from everyone in a fifty mile radius about the noise polution. I was relieved that they were much quieter than I was expecting. We went for the biggest diameter fans and large silencers.

When I think about the twenty grand price tag, I pull a face as though someone has just stood on my foot wearing a stiletto (Hang on that sounds as thought it's my foot wearing the stiletto which is confusing for you because I've not got my heels on today.)

This is all part of my new policy. I'm not talking about stilettos now. We've moved on, stop thinking about the stilettos, we're back on the fans now. My policy now is to buy the very best equipment for the job where I can afford to. I spent several years trying to save money by buying the cheapest equipment that I could. Possibly this was necessary to get the business to this stage.

Nowadays I understand that if we had bought the cheaper fans we would have had a month of louder noise and greater energy consumption. After a few years you rarely regret buying a machine that does the job well.

The fields are beginning to dry out today after a windy day and it looks as though we can start to harvest the daffodil bulbs on Monday. This said Chris will be spending the weekend on a minidigger digging trenches to let the puddles of water from one of the cut flower fields to the dyke.
