Did any of you watch the Live Earth concert? Did you find...
it as annoying as I did? I really resent "stadium politicians" like this. It is a sad indictment of western civilisation if the most effective people to encourage the population to moderate their energy consumption are Madonna and the Pussy Cat Dolls. I heard one "celebrity" interviewed on the radio recently who said "Yeh, like, y'know I am really like trying to cut down on how much carbon I use." Who are these halfwits?
It was clear from what they said when interviewed, that most of the performers didn't have much understanding of climate change. None of the presenters had a clue what they were asking viewers to do about climate change either so they kept talking about recycling your plastics. I would have thought that landfilling plastic gave off less carbon that subjecting it to another manufacturing process. Surely we want less plastic and reuse not recycling.
Thank goodness the concert has been met with cynicism by some parts of the media. It seems to me that it is exactly this absurd "have it all" celebrity culture that encourages society to be as fashion-obsessed, materialistic, selfish and wasteful. I found the whole event patronising. At least I didn't see Bono at any point else I might have sent my television to be recycled.
Isn't the idea of throwing a huge stadium concert to reduce climate change like having a food fight to help starving Africans? End of rant, you can go back to what you were doing now.
