Half of a Royal Pair take sheep title at Kent Show

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

This year's Kent County Show saw a line up of champions fresh from other wins this year.

Leading the way in the sheep lines was one half of the Royal Show interbreed champion pair, Messrs Wakeham Dawson and Harmer's Southdown shearling ewe.

Standing reserve to the ewe was the Texel champion, a shearling ram from John and Kate Marshall.

In the beef lines it was Doug Mash's French import Limousin cow Segala which took home the silverware, having already won the interbreed title at East of England and reserve interbreed at Suffolk this year.

Standing reserve to her was David and Lesley Sapsed's bought in Simmental female Darsham Real Treasure.

Maidstone-based Andrew Price took the championship commercial ticket in a smaller than usual entry of crossbreds, with his homebred Limousin cross steer Iron Bru, sired by Wilodge Tonka and out of a Belgian Blue cross dam.

Standing reserve to Iron Bru was Charles and Dawn Bull's Limousin cross Belgian Blue heifer Charlie's Angel, shown by their daughter Stefanie.

Charles and Dawn also took the silverware home in the pig lines with their homebred Berkshire sow Morebread Lousie 26, a July 2005-born sow due to farrow in early August.

In the dairy lines it was a one-two for the Warren family, with father Trevor leading Mike Goddard's Holstein champion Guston Aaron Hope to the top award, while son Sunny took reserve spot with his own Jersey cow Hennikers Jude Milki.
