As promised Taking Stock can now bring you a selection of beef and sheep champions from today's judging at the Royal Welsh Show.
Leading the way in the Limousin lines was Smiths of Bloxham's bull Wilodge Vantastic. October 2004-born Vantastic is by Wilodge Tonka and out of Ravanelle.

Among the Charolais it was Esmor Evans outstanding January 2006-born heifer Maerdy Beauty which took top honours under judge Murray Lyle.

Also in the Continentals, the Belgian Blues were early with their champion, Black n Blue UK.Com, a Serum D'Anloy sired cow shown with calf at foot from Neil and Sally Lloyd.

Among the sheep the Hampshire Down champion was a shearling ram from Jennifer Borsey, this one was bred by Kevin McCarthy, Northern Ireland, and cost 460gns at last year's breed sale at Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Meanwhile the Texel leader was another shearling ram, this time from Daniel and Ceri Jones. This was their first championship win at the Welsh, with Castlecairn Maverick doing the winning for them.

Well there's three entries that already make a strong Beef Interbreed line up, shame about the horrible weather though, really feel for the guys!

That was one of the finest interbreed line-ups I've seen for a while, but the Charolais heifer shone out as the star. Thankfully, the weather's brightened up today for the commercial beef and dairy cattle judging!

She is a stunning heifer and to be honest the photo doesn't do her justice, in the flesh she's even better.
