Catslackburn flock top at £700 in virtual sale

Shearling rams from Selkirk-based Norman Douglas' Catslackburn flock sold to £700 when a crowd of buyers gathered for a virtual sale of stock at Yarrow Village Hall on the Scottish Borders.

Having originally been scheduled for Kelso and Builth Wells, it was a Suffolk shearling that made the top price selling to Cherrytrees Farming Co, Kelso. The company also paid £600 for another Suffolk shearling.

A further bid of £600 secured Messrs Seymour, Peebles and Messrs Anderson, Hawick, another Suffolk shearling.

Texel shearlings topped at £550 with a call from Messrs Wilson, Selkirk, with Messrs Craig paying £520 for another Texel.

Averages: Suffolk £430; Texel £343.46; Bluefaced Leicester £262.50 and Cheviot £240 (Border Livestock Exchange).
