Records continue to be set at Taunton

An exceptional weekly entry of 80 Holstein cows and heifers saw a fantastic trade for a really high quality entry at Taunton, Somerset on Saturday.

With eight entries over £2000, a market record, last weeks record price of £2220 was beaten three times to a new record of £2540 for a calved heifer from R Puddy and Son purchased by local farmer Barry Coombes.

Others from the same vendor sold at at £2310, £2270, £2180 and £2100 and second calvers to £2000. This vendors 16 heifers averaged £1966 and eight cows averaged £1531.

Other leading prices to £1940 for a pedigree heifer from R Wilcox, Clevedon and also D Pyle, Exeter. Non pedigree cows to £1820 from B Jackson, Wincanton and to £1800 for M J Parkhouse of Barnstaple.

Incalf heifers sold to £1340 for E T Summerfield and Son, Oxford, with yearlings selling to £760 for B Jackson.
