Topping Hereford trade at Carlisle yesterday was Kelso-based JRB Wilson and Sons with their November 2006 born Romany 1 Diamond. By Crickley 1 Figurehead he is out of the homebred Lily line and has a terminal sire value of =28 and milk figure of +8, ranking him in the top 10% for the breed. He sold for 3000gns to J Brown, St Momans, Anstruthers.
The Wilson family also took the male championship with Romany 1 Dan, again by Figurehead but this time out of the Julia line. Dan is half brother to Romany 1 Julia R5 - the female champion at last year's spring show and sale.
In the female section it was Carolyn Fletcher who took the honours with Barwise 1 Calendula. This January born is by Barwise 1 Wellington (Royal Show 2007 senior male champion).
