Colchester prime trade hits 157p/kg for heifers

Another strong entry of prime cattle dominated proceedings at Colchester market where a pen of heifers from local producer R Partridge and Son averaged £859.28 a head and topped at 157.5p/kg selling to H G Blake.

In the medium weight heifers J W G Dunt and Sons fetched a top call of 156p/kg selling to J W F Hughes and Co and averaging at £703.56 a head.

Steers topped at 155.5p/kg for a pen of heavy weights from G M K and I J Smith bought by H G Blake.

Averages: Steers 137.81p/kg; heifers 135.57p/kg (Colchester Livestock Market).
