Lincoln Reds cause stir at Newark

Causing a stir and applause round the ring side, one of the two Lincoln Red bulls forward for Newark's multi breed sale today has just matched the top price of the day met earlier by a Charolais.

Forward from Mr and Mrs R H Grace, Solebay John, a Market Stainton Esquire son has just been knocked down at 5000gns to Michael Winterbotham, Derbyshire. This is the first bull to have been bred by the couple and is the first one to have been sold. Coupled with that I'd say the long journey up from Cornwall was worth it!

They sold their other entry - another Esquire son - minutes before at 2100gns to Riseholme Park Farms, Lincoln.

David R Garner:

Fantastic Bull
Good for the breed
His grandsire is alive and well with the Winceby Herd. Some young Bulls are in my feeding crew, contact if interested

Chrissie:

Hi David

Always good to hear the success stories. It was great for the breed considering their society sale had to be cancelled. A couple fo heifers looked well as well at the sale.

Tom Green:

Fantastic bull with more arse end than alot of the Simmentals at Newark, worth every penny i would say, hope he does a good job. Good for the breed, i don't think many around the ring could believe it when David Leggat knocked it down.

Chrissie:

Hi Tom

Yes he was a good bull, I don't think David Leggat could believe it either!!!! I liked two LR heifers as well - they had some shape about them. All bodes well for a LR sale at Newark in November so I hear?
