Pithayes dairy dispersal tops 2380gns

The Seward families first home sale at Pithayes Farm, Whimple, Devon on Tuesday drew 22 different purchasers from Cornwall to Wiltshire to witness a top price of 2380gs.

No less than 15 lots sold for 2000gns with top price being paid for Shermans Frederik Mandy 19, a February calved heifer by Lymatra Cody Frederik that was giving 37kg with an SCC of 34. Close behind at 2300gns was the highest priced cow of the day Shermans Webster Wallen 22, a March second calver by Delta Webster that was giving just over 50kg.

The January calved heifer Shermans Igniter Whiskey and her heifer calf by Shermans Reward sold for a combined total of 2720gns.

Incalf heifers were once again in strong demand selling to 1700gns twice for Shermans Frederik Whiskey 398 and Shermans Frederik Meg 40, both two years old by Lymatra Cody Frederik and due to a Holstein bull.

Heifer calves reached 620gns for daughters of the homebred bull Shermans Reward.

The demand for Holstein Bulls continued with Shermans William by Silky Gibson and from the excellent Whiskey family selling for 1120gns.
