Simmentals hit 3600gns twice at Carlisle

A joint top price of 3600gns was achieved for the champion (judged by Andy Ryder) Simmental at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday. Chesterman Titan, from N and N Gwynne sold to D J A Davies, Wales. Chesterman Titan is sired by Gretna House Supersonic and out of Rosten Julie.

At the same price was Derwentwood Tornado from N and A Hunter and knocked down to Mssrs G and L White, Howden. Derwentwood Tornado is sired by Drumsleed Kelso and out of Derwentwood Duchess.

Third highest price on the day was a call of 3200gns from J W Davison and Sons, Tyne and Wear to secure the second prize Hockenhull Vienna from Hugo Arnold. Out of a homebred cow, he is by the Sterling Flint son Omorga Prince.

A call of 3000gns was enough to knock down Charles Bruce’s Bemersyde Thistle. Homebred on both sides and going back to Popes Laird, he sold to G and B Dobson, Louth.

At 2700gns, JA Tallentire sold the Salisbury Challenger son Swingletree Terminator to D and G McClanachan, Dumfries.

Averages: 13 bulls £2180.77; one female £1155 (Harrison and Hetherington).
