Charolais bulls met a ready demand selling to 4100gns at the breed society's Northern Ireland club official show and sale in Ballymena.

Topping the fixture at 4100gns was Burnside Cedric, a 13 month old youngster, from father and son team, Brian and William McAllister, Kells, Ballymena to James McCurdy Broughsahe for 4100gns. Ballymena08BurnsideCedric.jpg Cedric was out of a homebred dam by Moorlough Palo and one of the first sons to be offered by the 16,000gns Perth reserve junior champion, Balmyle Vagabond, who was later selected for the former MLC's Young Bull Promotion Scheme.

Three animals commanded a 4000gns price tag. The first was the supreme champion, Altnaveigh Beeforsalmon, from Samuel Thompson, Newry. This Doonally New son was out of a Maerdy Impeccable daughter and sold to Kelly Farms, Londonderry.

Another Doonally New son, this time the class winner Kiltrom Bosco from John Quinn, Pomeroy made 4000gns to John McGarry, Glarryford, while the third 4000gns entry, Killadeas Cain bred and exhibited by Stuart Bothwell and his son, Stuart, Ballinamallard went home with Ivan Loughery, Limavady.

John McHenry, of Ballymoney secured 3500gns from M Dowdall, Newry for his Doonally New sired Kilmahamogue Brazil. Next in the price stakes at 3000gns was the day's reserve supreme champion, Killadeas Comber, a Dunlon Ulick son and out of a Harestone Nighthawk sired dam. The buyer was W Rogers, Newry.
