Well after an early morning flight, a spell watching the pre-sale judging and decent lunch in the market cafe, we joined Charollais breeders ringside to catch the action at today's sale at Lanark.
Arwel and Amanda Owen picked up at Lanark where they left off last week at Welshpool, collecting the top call of 3000gns for a full ET brother to their breed record holder.
Buyer this time was last week's under bidders, Willie and Carol Ingram, Logie Durno, Aberdeenshire. By Foulrice Eurostar their tup lamb had stood reserve champion earlier in the day in the pre-sale show.
The Owen's third and final lamb in the ring, another Eurostar son also took a four figure bid, this one made 2100gns to Mr Archibald of Islay.
Having stood champion in the pre-sale show, Bryan Evans first lamb in the ring had the unfortunate task of being the geinea pig for the trade, but a spirited bidding war set the scene for the day before he was finally knocked down at 1900gns to Jonathan Wales, Thackwood, Cumbria.
The day's last lamb through the ring from Herbie Kennedy was another of the more sought after lots, taking a bid of 2800gns having stood first in his class earlier in the day. Buyer on this occaision was Nigel Blackburn, vice chairman of the northern Scotland Charollais group. This one is by homebred sire Parkgate Hot Property and out of a ewe by Carnew Arkle.
Messrs Paterson, Auchenlay, also collected a four figure sum for their best entry when Messrs Lawrie, Grangehall, bid 1300gns for a Arjone Glyndwr-sired lamb from their Dunblane-based flock.
In the running at 1000gns was Mr Snaith, Greattosson when buying James Clanachan's top lamb a Foulrice Falcon son. This one is out of a dam by Southam Dazzler.

Glad you enjoyed lunch!Just one small error in your report - the 1,300gns sale to Lawrie Grangehall came from the Auchenlay flock, not Harvey, Nether Keir. Nice pix!

Quite right - my apologies for the mistake, that's the trouble with trying to do too many things at once and not read the catalogue carefully enough. I've corrected it now and it will be right in FW on Friday too.
Having set off from home at just after five the lunch was particularly welcome!
