Fierce trade saw prices topping £2550 for a fresh heifer from Fred Schofield,
Messrs Brunt also purchased the second highest priced heifer, Manorside Reece Beatrice by Askew Reece, at £2380 from E V and B Boughey and Son, Tarporley. Messrs Boughey also had the next top selling at £2320, the homebred Tarporley Primate Delight 2nd by Sterndale Primate. She sold to Messrs J N and L P Bate, Great Budworth.
Cows also topped at £2180 for a fresh non pedigree 3rd calver from H Darlington and Co, Farndon selling to Robin Arden. A further eight animals made £2000 or more.
Incalf heifers were dominated by an entry of 10 pure pedigree British Friesian consigned by David Brock,
Young stock also saw good trade, with cattle from Wolleydod's unregistered milk recording dams sensational. Served heifers were between two and fine months in calf and sold to £1520 twice for daughters of Askew Reece and Markwell Kite, both purchased by Simon Cardan, Malpas.
Maiden heifers whose average age was 11 months old topped at £1180 for another Kite daughter with 13 breaking the four figure barrier. Calves born this year topped at £650 for a daughter of Markwell Mandel Renegade.
Also selling very well was a consignment of pedigree bulling heifers from Harold Bothwell and Co,
At £1450 was OC Whittaker and Sons, Knutsford purchased Tattynuckle Sarson Barb, by Copywood Sarson Red also from Mr Bothwell.
Heifer calves from local vendors topped at £510 for a four week old calf from Claytons Partnership, Malpas and a Jersey cross
74 cows and milking heifers averaged £1556.35, 21; in calf heifers and served heifers averaged £1573.81; 65 maiden heifers averaged £919.08; 15 heifer calves averaged £464.00.
