Hello,
Sorry, but an Illawarra in Australia is not a Dairy Shorthorn - they are two separate breeds.
The Illarwarra was bred down from Dairy Shorthorns and other breeds many, many years ago but that's where the connection ends. Their respective herd books have no association either.
Unlike Britain, in Australia we breed 100 per cent Dairy Shorthorns and don't like any other blood in the pedigree, Illawarra included!
This all means that bulls are in short supply when we source them from overseas - 100 per cent goign way, way back and nothing else!
Thought I'd better let you know - don't want to sound grumpy!
Cheers
Valerie
