The November edition of Wright Manley's famous Mid Month Sale of Pedigree and Commercial Dairy Cattle attracted an entry of well over 300 head.

A really good crowd were present to compete for the large number on offer and bidding was still brisk, albeit at lower levels, the edge is definitely off the dairy trade and they are not as dear as they were a month ago.

Nevertheless trade was still good for the very best but this month there were not as many of those really good heifers entered for sale.

The top price was £2250 with another at £2180 and these two top bids were the only ones to break through the £2K barrier this month. Both bids were for fresh heifers and both were for entries from Jack and Barclay Taylor's Burnbrae Herd based at Myddle, Nr. Shrewsbury.

The leading bid was for the pedigree Himster Grand Prix daughter Stauntonvale Grandprix Anne who was giving 36 kg. whilst the next top seller was Longfont Aaron Gina which was sold giving 32 kg. Both were purchased by D & HE Colclough & Son of Hassall, Sandbach.

Cows sold to a top of £1780 for a second calver by Drointon Statesman from Catton Holsteins of Burton-on-Trent who were starting to disperse theor herd at this sale; Cattonhall Statesman Birch has calved six weeks and was purchased by G James & Sons, Welshpool.

Bulling heifers sold to £1500 for an April '07 daughter of Forte Amazon bred from 10 generations of VG/Ex dams of the Romance family consigned by AL & HF Nottage of Seething, Norwich with others from the same home selling at £1200, £1180, £1100 and £1050. Heifer calves sold very well and topped at £350 for an entry from the Claytons Partnership of Malpas, Cheshire.

(AVERAGES Cows and Milking Heifers £1388.04. Maiden Heifers £730.00. Calves £270.00 WRIGHT MANLEY)
