Wardle Herd reduction sale attracts nationwide buyers

With buyers present from Cumbria to Cornwall it was no surprised four bids topped the 5000gns mark, with 25 cows selling in excess of 2500gns for the first reduction sale of Ian Williamson's Wardle Herd of Holstein cattle.

 

The sale which took place at Beeston castle Auction saw noted show cow Goostrey Coll 225th, hitting the 5000gns mark. This daughter of Kemview Vanetas Vision who calved her fifth calf last March also won Champion at Cheshire, Great Yorkshire and Nantwich this year now joins the Chorlton Herd of John Lomax, Newcastle, Staffordshire.

The fresh fourth calved daughter of Comestar Lee, Ridegfield Ghost, who calved at the end of September and is now giving 52 kg daily, now joins the Weeton Herd of R J and D Loftus Farms on the Lancashire Fylde. Her month old heifer calf sold for 2400gns to Peter Royle for his Bolshaw Herd at Rugby, Warwickshire.

 

The third animal at 5000gns was Holepark Denise 18th who has just completed her second lactation of 10,875kg with 5.21% butterfat and 3.42% protein. She is due again in February to Shottle. She now returns to her birthplace, Kent, selling back to her breeder Gordon Reynolds.

 

The final animal at 5000gns was Weeton Outside Gail, a daughter of Comestar Outside who calved her second calf in September and was also giving 52kg to James Wilson for his Evening Herd based at Thursby, Carlisle. Mr Wilson also purchased Actonfarm Indro Beatexus 2nd, a second calver giving 42kg daily with eight Excellent dams for 4300gns.

 

Also selling at a good price was the dry cow Yatehouse Jordon Star Roxy who was due in January to Mr Sam and is in the ninth generation of cows classified in the top two grades. She sells to Dylan Jones, Pwllheli for his Edern Herd
