A Limousin heifer weighing 585kg from Robert and Jacqeline Neil, Upper Nisbet, led the way at yesterday's Christmas Show and Sale at St Boswells. The homebred heifer won the exhibitor bred class before going on to be champion under judge George Deans of Scottish Border Abattoir. She later sold at 420p/kg to W Forsyth and Sons, Peebles.

Standing reserve was a steer from Low Middleton Livestock which tipped the scales at 620kg and made 320p/kg when selling to Gosford Bothy Farm Shop.

Overall the 138 heifers averaged 152.5p/kg and the 95 steers levelled at 170p/kg.
