Storming trade at Bentham Auction as dairy record is set

A record price of £2920 was set for dairy cattle at Bentham Auction for the annual Christmas show and sale, which saw 13 cattle selling in excess of £2000.  

 

Christmas Dairy 2008.JPGTopping trade was reserve champion Robthrom Integrity, a third calved cow giving 10 gallons daily. Consigned by Mr Whitwell, Eldroth, Intergrity sold to Mr Stephen Robinson, Burton in Lonsdale.

 

Mr Whitwell also took champion title with his newly calved homebred heifer sired by Haldrey Leadership, which realised £2550 selling to M Ridsdale, Calthwaite, Penrith.

 

Also realising £2550 was the first prize pedigree cow, a second calved Stormatic cow consigned by Mr John Fox, Quernmore, selling to judge Tom Pollock. The first prize pedigree heifer from Mr Nelson, Kirby Lonsdale sired by Goldwyn made £2400 selling to Maurice Wannop, Morecambe.
