Yet more cattle results from Royal Welsh Winter Fair

Rob Rattray is making good progress in the steer classes with several under his belt now, including the British Blue and Charolais classes and the first of the Limousin classes.

Familiar names were to the fore in the British Blue section with the first class going to Tecwyn Jones with his 602kg entry Rocky. Second spot went to the Fountaines with 612kg Count the Cost, while Phil and Sharon Sellers took third spot with The Chancer who weighed in at 528kg.

And Mr Jones made it a double win when he also took the second class with his heavier steer Blackey, this one went across the scales at 660kg. Second spot here in what was possibly the closest class of the day so far was taken by Berwyn Hughes with 698kg Rockstar, while third went to Cliff Collins with 660kg Blue Chip.

For my money tomorrow's champion could well come from these two British Blue classes, probably from the second class, but there's still plenty of good cattle to be shown yet.

In the Charolais sired class it was a win for T C Edwards with Barwn Boy, a 620kg entry, while second was Will Owen with Cracker Jack at 538kg, third was B G Price with the Joker at 540kg.

Then in the first of the Limousin steer classes the Sellers were back to winning ways with their 538kg The Phantom taking top honours. Second place in this class were Colin and Wendy Philips with Okey Dokey, while third were Messrs G Jones and Sons and J H Campbell and Sons William a 532kg entry.
