Royal Smithfield Club announces new president and chairman

The Royal Smithfield Club has elected Robert Stovold, Godalming, Surrey as club president for 2009.

 

Mr Stovold who has been a member of the Royal Smithfield Club since 1950 has served on the club's council since 1975 and was elected vice president of the club in 1987. He is also an honorary vice president and former chairman of the Surrey Agricultural Society.

 

Mr Stovold is a breeder of high quality cattle, sheep and pigs and values the aims of the Royal Smithfield Club to encourage and promote the breeding and production of high quality meat.

 

Royal Smithfield Club has also announced the appointment of John Campbell, Alnwick, Northumberland as the Club's chairman for 2009 and 2010, taking over chairmanship from Neil Gourlay.

 

Mr Campbell has been a member of the club since 1984 and has served on the council since 1995. He runs a mixed farm with beef, sheep and cereals, breeding Charolais cattle, Texel and Suffolk sheep and is a producer of prime lambs.
