Along with the dispersal of his Bearbrook Limousin herd Bernard Mairs also sold his Croftburn Aberdeen-Angus herd last Friday at Moira and trade topped at a healthy 9000gns with new breeders dominating the buying.

Leading the trade was two year old heifer Croftburn Blackbird H331. Out of Coldstream Blackbird this one is by Northern Samurai and sold to new breeder Trevor Wallace, Dromore.

At 5200gns was another Blackbird, Croftburn Blackbird G313 a Netherton Kular daughter out of Huxton Blackbird. This one joins Mike Frazer, Templepatrick, buyer of the top priced bull at last week's Angus sale at Dungannon.

Then at 5100gns Mr Wallace was back in the market, buying Huxton Blackbird B081, dam of 5200gns Croftburn Blackbird G313. She is by Rawburn El Cid out of Rawburn Blackbird.

Ernie Hall, Ballyclare, added his name to the roll call of buyers when he bid 4000gns for Skaill Diana. Bred by Colin Davidson, Orkney, Diana is by Blelack Blackstock and out of another Skaill Diana and was female champion in Perth when she was bought for 6000gns.

And Mr Frazer added to his earlier purhases when he paid 3700gns for yet another Blackbird, this time Croftburn Blackbird H545. She is full sister to his earlier purchase Blackbird G313.

Among the semen on offer top call was a 200gns bid for Ranui Impact straws, while Darlene Cruz made 150gns/straw. (R A Noble and Co).
