Champion in the commercial beef cattle section here at Harrogate's Great Yorkshire Show has gone to Neil Slack and his niece and nephew, Bradley and Elizabeth Haughan, with their British Blue cross heifer Sidewalk Sally.

This one, purchased at Penrith in the spring for the monstern prixe tag of £13,000 was bred by John Richardson and family. She weighed 480kg today, having been commercial champion at Northumberland County Show earlier in the season.
Standing reserve were last week's Royal Show winners Andrew Richardson and Jennifer Hyslop with another of their team of beasts, this time a red Limousin cross heifer bred by Keith Dent, Naby View. This heifer was bought from Middleton in Teesdale suckled calf sale this spring for £1600. Today was her first time out at a major event and she tipped the scales at 498kg.

I'm being a bit thick here but did Sellers not buy this heifer at 13k in Penrith?
You're not being thick at all - Phil and Sharon judged the event and the animal was knocked down to them - equally Sharon was helping Neil dress the heifer..........who knows?
13 k hfr nothin about her, vr high tail and rough!!!! cant wait 2 c elfed williams 10k hfr down at the royal welsh this wk, so the 6k str from tecwyn jones at beef exbo, his front legs are shocking!! high prices cattle arent everything!!
couldn't agree more Who Else - I didn't think she had grown much judging by her GYS pic and the pic of her when she was bought, but then a pic doesn't tell the truth! Although don't think you could call her rough - she's very showy and pretty - defo catch your eye when she comes in but not wow factor experience. Not going to the Welsh so you'll have to say what you think about the 10k heifer?!
totally agree with you who else - the champion in my opinion had a very proud tail head and her back legs we to bad for my liking. to me she had to many fault for the cost of her, but in saying that she is a good one of her kind .. she suits where she is being showing (if u no what i mean) she is a real english type of a show bease (if that makes sense).
And Baby limmy you are correct in saying that she hasnt grew that much from the time she was bought. i dont think she will grow that much .. she dosnt look like the growthy type .. but that sometimes that is a good thing.
was down at the welsh on tuesday, elfed williams hfr should have won, gd end,has come on a lot since penrith! but could go 2 heavy in the front by christmas though
any pictures of the 10k limmy at the welsh show ?
Sorry FF, no pics of this one I'm afraid.
