Limousin is Royal Welsh beef champion

| 15 Comments | No TrackBacks

The Limousin champion Ballymoney Veronica from Harry Emslie and his partner Lynwen Evans has just taken the overall title in the beef lines under interbreed judge Bryan Jones, Brecon.

TS RW happy harry.jpgVeronica, purchased as part of the Emslies herd foundation stock is by Highlander and out of Ballymoney Noisette. With a string of show successes behind her, including the junior interbreed title at the Highland in 2006 and the reserve breed championship here in the same year, Veronica is certainly living up to form and looked every inch the champion as she went out this afternoon.TS RW Lim.jpg

Standing reserve was the Charolais champion, Thrunton Classic, a Burradon Talisman son, from John Howells, Gwenog. This one was bought at Perth in February for 12,000gns and is herd sire for the 50-cow herd at home.

TS RW Char Champ.jpgMr Jones said the Limousin had stood out from the minute he saw her and was a perfect example of the modern Limousin. "She has grace and fleshing in equal measure and she caught my eye. She moves beautifully and knows she is a champion herself."

Spot on guys - does this add to the "gifted" tag for a certain Miss Evans?

Chrissie

Whoop, whoop, whoop!!!!!!!!!! Well done H and L - just wish I was there to celebrate with you - have one for me, no in fact have loads you deserve it!!!

B g coo

Ditto.
No more needs said apart from well done to to the emslie evans team. I'm thrilled to bits for them just writing this!

Captian Hook

Well done to H & L can't understand why this is the first major ticket that they have picked up this year!?

Chrissie

Gifted eh - never gonna live that one down!!! As for not picking up major tickets this year CH I share your thoughts completely - she picked up a stone in her foot at the Highland and came out lame - the judge was blind at the Royal and said she was lame (having watched her at the highland) and she wasn't at all lame! It must be going back to Lynwen's roots that makes her shine!!!! That heifer calf is a tidy thing as well.

MT Jonathan Long

Fair comment CH, the cow has been good all season, saying that I'd say she looked the best she's looked all season yesterday, she truly shone out there in both the breed classes and the interbreed. A well deserved win and it couldn't happen to a nicer couple - think H is under pressure to pop the question after the win yesterday too!

Captain Hook

I didn't see her out of the pen at the Highland as I had a prior engagement with the beer tent as soon as my charos had been judged, but she looked the piece in the pen! Its a great result for them!

hear hear CH good beast & great result.

Confused

Well done H & L .. well deserved. Wasnt able to get to the welsh but i watched the judging on the welsh channal on SKY and was over the moon for you both as she got tapped out champion and interbreed Champion too!! .. She is a fantastic cow and has a great calf at her foot. A worthy winner !!
Well done

limmyfan

Well done H & L, really pleased for you both. Well done to Veronica too for being such a star!

MT Slowly but surely

Well.. As I told Harry and Lynwen on the day, its been a long and rocky road, but they deserve what they've both achieved, and what a cow to do it with, Veronica is an amazing cow, and looked every inch the worthy Champion. Good luck to you both in the future, and remember me if you decide to sell any embryo's from her! And Harry. don't mess about, get her married! just don't forget to invite me and the missus, well keep the kids at home, promise! (all 4 of them....)

Chrissie

And now the "gifted" one has a rather flashy black heifer calf in Orkney named after her....your in demand!

Crikey! Don't I get about!!!

Chrissie

Now you said that!!

little jon

hope dat de black heifer goes on for ye shes a good one, a real real good one
