More records have been smashed in the Leek dairy ring, with demand forcing heifer prices to £2620 and cows to £2200.

Taking the top spot was a Roylane Jordan daughter shown by Robert Gadsby, Yarlet, Stafford. She sold giving 36kg to John and Stan Fernyhough, Swthamley, who also took an Avenham Westminster heifer from the same home at £2400.

Their third heifer by Picston Shottle reached £2350 to Mr R Backhouse, Leek, which brought their three to an average of £2457.

£2260 secured another Roylane Jordan daughter shown by James Harrison, Cheadle with another two heifers at £2200. The first a Genus Janner daughter from Messrs Webb, Colton. She sold to Messrs Brown, Stone with the second from Ian McGrath, Knutsford.

Cows topped at £2200 for a second calver from Mr S Winterton, Cheddleton.

The top 13 averaged £2131 with the entire entry of 52 averaging £1451. (Leek Auctions)
