Kirkby Stephen Swalesdales to £47,000

Swaledale rams sold to a top call of £47,000 at Kirkby Stephen yesterday with the top price being paid for a shearling from J Nelson and Son, Bull and Cave. This one was sold to T Robinson and Sons, Catlow Farm, with a half share being retained by the breeders.

Second top at £33,000 was another from the same vendors, while one from T W Brogden, Hillandale, sold at £26,000 to A and M Brennand and Son, Ellerbeck.

At £18,000 was one from J R and A Blades, Scarr House. This one sold to P E and K A Sowerby, Mossdale, with a half share retained.

Then at 13,500 was one from M and E M Wilson, Arngill, and at £12,000 was a shearling from G E Harker, Murton Hall.

Average; 410 shearling rams £1690.18.
