The dispersal sale of Edwin Baker's 'Stokehouse' herd of 320 Holsteins, saw a top price of 2500gns at Sedgemoor this week.

52 purchasers that had travelled from far and wide witnessed a continued strong trade for fresh milk, which peaked with the sale of the September calved, Stokehouse Outside Heather. This third calver is giving 40kg of milk.

Comestar Outside had certainly made his mark on the herd, with the five top priced cows all sired by him. All five were freshly calved and in their second to fourth lactations.

In-calf heifers due in November to Kendall by Deslacs Milkstar and out of a 10,000kg dam, sold to 1520gns.

A July 2008 born daughter of Jenny-Lou Mrshl Toystory sold for 920gns and 25 heifer calves sold to a top price of 620gns for the June born daughter of Nor-Bert Calypso.
