Carlisle Herefords sell to 2700gns

Prices hit a top spot of just 2700gns at Friday's sale of Herefords at Carlisle, with trade leed by Baldinnie 1 Malta from John Cameron. This Leos Pride 1 Vanquish son is out of Baldinnie 1 Model 5 and sold with a terminal sire index of +25 and a self replacing index of +31 to J M and A M Weir, Appleby.

At 2600gns was Panmure 1 Emperor from Messrs Cant. This is a Solpoll 1 Brigadier son out of a dam by FS 1 Versache. He sold with a terminal sire index of +16 and a self replacing index of +19 to W Weightman, Country Durham, having stood champion in the pre-sale show.

Topping the females at 2200gns was Romany 1 Mink from the Wilson family, Kelso. This is a September 2007-born Romany 1 Atlas 4 daughter out of Romany 1 Mink 43 and soldd in calf to SMH Calgary.

Averages; three bulls £2371.25, nine females £1080.33 (Harrison and Hetherington).
