Gorse Beef Shorthorn dispersal sells to 3500gns

The dispersal of John Brigg's Gorse herd of Beef Shorthorns reached a high spot of 3500gns when Gorse Augusta Xceptional, a five year old cow with a bull calf at foot sold to an undisclosed Northampton-based buyer.

This same buyer claimed a total of nine lots on the day, including the next best at 3050gns. This was the only in-calf heifer of the day Gorse Augusta Agatha.

Local buyers, C H Rowberry, Kidderminster secured the herd's stock sire Gorse Tearaway at 3100gns, having earlier claimed Gorse Augusta Yarrow and her steer calf at 3500gns.

Averages; eight cows with calves £2302.12, one in-calf heifer £3202.50, five maiden heifers £1722, one bull £3255 (McCartneys).
