Apologies for not getting the top prices from the sale to you yesterday, unfortunately I had to dash back to the airport to get the flight home again - as it was I needn't heva rushed with the plane delayed!
However, back to the reason for the post - the auction results. The champion made £3100, leaving the show organisers with a £100 bill as they guarantee the champion to make £3200.
And the reserve went unsold at £2400, which bearing in mind she cost £4100 is no great surprise.
Butchers champion Oor Rob from Gavin Scott made £2900 and the reserve butchers champion, Lady Ga Ga from Neil Slack made £3000, having cost £5000 in the spring.
Overall it looks like a fairrly unexciting sale.

Good old P&J report per chance? I would hope there was a firm trade through the sale although there's not much spare money in the trade right now to get our 'christmas bonus' from the butchers. I'll find out on tuesday i guess!
Nah BGC I had a spy ringside last night - a man after breeding heifers that you know and will see on Tuesday no doubt.
Unexciting wasn't the word!! I would have said there were less cattle forward for sale, and def not the same hype as last year. Thought the Dunlops were worthy winners, he was a fair beast although his legs weren't great, but I suppose they end up in the bin anyway! A tremendous show of stock yesterday, especially the young calves, but apart from that a poor show - hardly any trade stands, cattle leaving show at 12.30pm, and the bar got shut because 2 eejits started fighting!!! Apart from that a very sociable day out!!! Just hope they sort it out for next year.
Posting here a similar repsonse to one I posted on the Agriscot thread
I just dont see why there is a clamour to put 2 separate events together.
If you put them together you would need to have less stands and more cattle, to make up for it you would probabaly need to charge at least the £12 it is to get into the Wnter Fair.
I think it has been proven that this formula doesnt inspire farmers in this country, or certainly not enought to justify a show.
Remember, the WF chose to move to Ingliston from Peth and created the farcical situation, why did they do that? They get less people now than they did there. I just dont see how weakening a strong show to strengthen a weak one is the answer. Sadly economics dictate and both farmers and stand holders have and are voting with their feet.
