Phil and Sharon Sellers, Derbyshire, have just taken the overall beef championship here at the English Winter Fair with their Charolais cross heifer Fantasia. This one, which was overall champion at last week's East of England Winter Stock Festival, was bought privately from Jim Mills, Builth Wells, last year.
Standing reserve overall was Berwyn Hughes with his British Blue cross steer, Mr X Factor. This one is by an unregistered British Blue bull and out of a Limousin cross cow.
Taking the pedigree championship were Christine Williams and Paul Tippets with their pure Limousin steer Wilodge Destroyer.
Reserve here was Michael Kirby with his Aberdeen Angus heifer Lockerly Black Butterfly.
Reserve in the crossbred heifers were Michael and Melanie Alford with their Blue cross Lady Gaga, while reserve steer went to the Williams and Tippets team again, this time with Limousin cross Buck Off.

when will we know the buyers of the sarkley sale. very nice steer from wilodge by salomon isn't he
Hi, buyers from Sarkley are all there now, a good spread of money from new and existing breeders.
yep the wilodge steer is by Salomon, he's got some backend on him and a cracking wide top too.
lovely limmy and angus cattle but what about this blue beast wouldnt like his back legs at all
Agree irish fatstocker - too front heavy for me for a steer would hate to know it's weight! The Charlie heifer never looks much in a picture but she is some animal when you handle her!
Surely the legs can't be that important on a butcher's beast?!! Besides this steer had phenomenal width throughout, and although I haven't handled the Charlie, that steer also handled fantastically well. Don't take too much notice of the picture if your trying too gauge the size of the steer though, the guy leading is only about 5ft!!!
Champ ped steer and champ xbred steer both had 'hooky' back legs and didn't walk well.Char heifer too much belly for me however did have a loin and a half.
