Welsh Blacks sell to 1500gns at Abergavenny

A top call of 1500gns marked the highspot at the last Welsh Black sale of the autumn at Abergavenny. This was given for 17 month ols heifer Meadowsweet Lassie 3. This daughter of Iwrch Blackjack 3 and out of Meadowsweet Lassie. Bed by Peter and Tanya Bowen, she was bought by Philips and Andrew Danson.

Next best at 1450gns was maiden heifer Catherine Melody from Messrs D M Davies and Son, Brecon. She is by Morlais Merlin and sold to J T Bowen, Princetown, Tredegar.

Then at 1350gns was Ty-Talgarth Nia, a Fedw Bill daughter, from Jonathan Pugh. She sold to Tony Hood, Wooton Under Edge. Two more similarly bred heifers from the same home made 1300gns when selling to Trevor Davies, Trevehtin, Pontypool.

Also at this money were a brace from Messrs D M Davies and Son. Similarly bred to their 1450gns heifer one of these sold to J T Bowen.

Average; 41 females £913.5 (J Straker Chadwick).
