And that's it for 2009 folks

| 18 Comments | No TrackBacks

After a hectic day's trading here at Borderway Mart that's the end of the sale and its been one to remember with prices surpassing all expectations.

A top of 38,000gns for the pre-sale show champion was just one of the highlights which saw Smiths of Bloxham dominate the buyers list despite the presence of new breeders, including Boden and Davies and Malcolm Reid.

And with that, its pretty much all over for Taking Stock in 2009. I may have a few more updates for you early next week, but by and large that's us done for the year.

I hope you've enjoyed following our travels across the shows and sales of the UK this year and look forward to bringing you all the news in 2010, here's hoping trade in all sectors remains as strong as its been this year.....

Thanks for your updates.Dont know how you can type and laugh at the same time.Keep it up.

MT Jonathan Long

Ah TB, the infamous Haddo Pele, he was certainly a good source of light relief - any sightings yet?!

MT Jonathan Long

Its not the laughing that's the problem RT, its trying to type with frozen fingers that really takes effort. Merry christmas to one and all

Jonathan What did you make of the Champion and the price? Serious money!

The Bull

There was a reported sighting of Haddo Pele standing on a hill in Argyll Scotland by a bird watcher, unfortunately the twitcher was studying one of the newly introduced sea eagle`s which swopped and carried pele away!! The bird was then caught in the jetstream of a passing RAF fighter jet and was last seen doing an estimated 250-260mph towards North Wales...!!! We all hold out hope and hope he managed to escape the clutches of the clawed fowl and recovers on time for the welsh!!

Forkins flock of ped texels got 8000, 6500 and 6500 today at Ballymena, all selling to procters farms. Gault brought home £48000 from the sale. Ballynahone got just over 3000 and Tamnamoney got 3200.

Tom Bailey bought 1 form Gault at 4000. All in all Gault averaged 1800 (roughly) for his gimmers

the famous haddo pele was rejected at lanark for small testicles but was sold in carlisle for £1800 .great coverage in 2009 look forward to 2010.

Hope the move went well, the snow in Yorkshire is serious!

Not sure how I would manage without your service!!!

Compliments of the season and please continue the service in 2010.

Thanks for the update texni, much appreciated. Had a feeling Procter Farms would spend some money with Jeff at the helm, wasn't sure they'd go quite so strong, but certainly setting out their stall with these buys. Question is which of this year's biggest spenders on females, Trinidad investment, Procters or Malcolm Reid, will come out with the goods next year? I know who I'd back to be top of the tree.

Quite agree, interesting to see if Malcolm can repeat his 2009 year both buying and selling!!! my moneys on Proctors.

Look where Haddo Pele has his home:
