In-lamb Beltex and Texels in demand at Chelford

Texel and Beltex in-lamb ewes were in demand at Chelford on Saturday, despite the weather conditions which made travelling to the sale tricky for some.

TEXEL

Taking the day's top call of 2650gns was the day's Texel champion, an in-lamb shearling from Idris Morris' Fachell flock. This was aa Fachell Nutter daughter in-lamb to Baltier Prestige, a Kelso Ozone son. She sold to Messrs Warren, Bradford.

Lot 65.jpgNext best at 900gns was one from David, Islay and Lisa Gray, an Ettrick Karate Chop daughter out of a dam by Ettrick High Jinks and sold in-lamb to Mitchelhill Paparazzi. This one sold back to Scotland, joining Messrs Kenny.

And at 820gns was a Crockholme Moscow Flyer daughter from Peter and Rose Woof, Stainton, Kendal. This one, carrying a single by Kelso Planet, himself a Mellor Vale Officer son. She was snapped up by Will McCaffrey, Malpas.

Lot 301.jpgThen at 600gns was the reserve champion from the pre-sale show, another from the Woofs. This was a Castlecairn Never Again daughter, again in lamb to Kelso Planet. Sold carrying twins, she sold to R Fox, Elvington, York.

Lot 303.jpgMaking 500gns was a Goldies bred ewe from Frank Rushton's Fresh Fields flock. This one, by Haltcliffe Jackpot sold in lamb to Deveronvale Powerpacker, a Millar's Outstanding son. She sold to Matt Tomlinson, Kilburn, Derbyshire.Lot 2.jpg

BELTEX

The best of the Beltex trade was a 550gns call for the second prize gimmer from the pre-sale show from David Williams' Criccin flock. This one by Headlind Genic is due in February to a Skiddaw View tup. She sold to Miss J Owens, Shobdon, Herefordshire.

Lot 188.jpgNext best was a 420gns call for the reserve champion Beltex, a ewe lamb from Clapham, Lancaster-based Bernard Staveley. This one iis by Tewitt Hall Milkshake, a Headlind Ee By Gum son, and sold to M Thackray, Prion, Denbighshire.Lot 219.jpg
