Beeston mid-month dairy sale tops at £2400

Top price at last week's mid-month sale of dairy cattle at Beeston was a £2400 call for a a heifer from Jack and Barclay Taylor, Myddle, who are dispersing their herd as they calve.

Their sale leader was Burnbrae Drake Jolanda, which sold to J A and M H Wright, Sandbach. At £2250 was Tiveys Dolman Kate which sold to David Colclough, Sandbach, and then at £2200 was Tiveys Tiger Rosie 69, which sold to the same buyer.

Topping the non-pedigree cattle on offer was a fresh heifer by Klassic Merril Lynch from Richard Tomlinson. This sold to J A and M H Wright. At rhe same money were a brace which sold to Wilmot Blockley, Tarvin. First to go was a Netherside Dynamo daughter from the Smith brothers, Garstang and second was a non-pedigree from Neil Lewis, Farndon.

Overall 30 head sold for £2000 or more, including the top selling cow, Carrick Lucente M Snowdrop from John Maddrell, Isle of Man, which sold to Roger Ryley, Hodnet.

Averages; 190 pedigree and commercial Holsteins £1454.21 (Wright Manley).
