Limousin “baby” heifer tops Ruthin sale at £5000

 

2522012 Ruthin Lot 47 web.jpgThe 13th Annual show & sale of show potential cattle on behalf of the ‘North Wales Potentials’ committee was held at Ruthin Livestock Centre  when there were 91 catalogued entries forward.

 

Judge Berwyn Hughes, Ceredigion selected his winners from strong classes of steers and heifers giving top honours to an eight-month old Limousin cross heifer from D and P Brute, Brecon. She sold for £5000 to G and V Bowring, Nether Langwith.

2522012 Ruthin Lot 38 web.jpgThe reserve champion was a five-month-old black Limousin heifer from Philip Jones, Llandyrnog which made £4600 (above) to S E Sellers, Lincoln.

 

The steer title went to Bowen & Bowen with their nine month old Limousin-cross which later sold for £2200 to G C & V A Bowring. The reserve champion steer award went to a seven month old British Blue sired entry from T and E Williams, Nant y Geifr, Llanidloes. It realised £3600 (below)

 

2522012 Ruthin Lot 79 web.jpgThe champion un-haltered entry was an eight-month old British Blue-cross heifer from Trefor Jones, Bodychain, Caernarfon. She sold for £3050 to Stillmans, Somerset, Taunton.

 

A nine-month old Limousin cross heifer from David John Lloyd & Co, Trefeglwys, Caersws made £3200 to J Williams, Tyn Llyn, Trawsfynydd and a seven month old Limousin cross heifer, also shown by Mr Lloyd, sold for £2600 to M and K Lanfear, Bristol.

 

Twenty two of the entries realised £1500 or over and returned a heifer average of £1752. Steers levelled at £1338. Overall average was £1589.30.
