Welsh Blacks peak at 5,000gns at Dolgellau

 

weslsh black topper1 web.jpgThe 55th Annual Spring Show and Sale of Pedigree Welsh Black Cattle attracted entries of 11 Females and 4 Bulls and a top call of 5,000gns at Dolgellau Market on Friday.

 

Taking the top call was the reserve champion Bull, March 2010 born Cwm Cae Bleddyn 11th from T Jones, Cwm Cae, Bow Street. He sold to Mrs R B W Hughes, Dolhelfa, Llangurig.

 

Then at 3,000gns was the champion Bull, June 2010 born Gerddi Cyfhebog 66th from E P Evans, Gerddi Bluog, Harlech. He went to S Lloyd Williams, Moelgolomen, Talybont.

 

The champion female, Frongaled Lliwen 5th was then secured for 1,320gns. This one is in-calf to Hafren Myrddin 2nd and shown by Emily Evans, Ty’n Shettin, Llanwddyn. She found a new home with W Jones, Caerau Isaf, Rhydyclafdy, Pwllheli.

 

The champion maiden heifer was April 2010 born Rhyddid Pippin which was shown by Mrs L P Foxwell, Tyddyn Rhyddid, Harlech. She went for 1,030gns to D Northey, of Lauceston, Cornwall.

 

Another Maiden Heifer, Pant y Gelli Menna, shown by M L and S R Davies, Pantygelli, Llandysul, sold for 1,300gns to D Jones, Gadair Farm, Llanfyllin.

 

Averages: Two Females, 1,130gns (to 1,360 gns); Eight Maiden Heifers, 932 gns (to 1,300 gns); Four Bulls, 3,350gns (to 5,000 gns). (Dolgellau Market)
