Autumn Ridge Matson daughters in demand at Sedgemoor
Auctioneers Greensalde Taylor Hunt reported another exceptional monthly entry for their Michaelmas Collective Sale of 250 head yesterday.
The Sale commenced with the usual fresh milk from leading South West Breeders and as expected it was from this section that the day’s top price came with Holmead Matson Winny bred by Terry Cox with six generations of VG and Ex behind her, selling for 2,500gns.
First time consigners Longmoor Farm Partnership were close behind at 2,350gns for another Autumn Ridge Matson daughter Cherwell Matson Cathy and C R J and J A Bishop’s Curscombe Paradise Clover 142nd, a very fresh heifer by Daystar Paradise sold for 2,320gns.
Top priced cow at 2,200gns came from regular consigners Roland and Simon Bugler with the 2nd calver Bettiscombe Samuelo Adah 32nd that was giving 42kgs. At 2,150gns was Ray Spillers Lilylane Wildman Kitty 31st that had calved in August and was giving 46kgs. Others over 2,000gns came from Ashlea Farm Services, Ian Dimond, R L and M E Trott, R J Goss and B and K A Follett.
Three Dispersals on the day started with A and P Bradford who sold 2nd calved cows by Himstar Grandprix to 2100gns and calved heifers by Moorshard Omen also to 2100gns.
Messrs L W R and K A Hill have decided to sell their herd as they calve and their first consignment saw the 2nd calver Sampfordel Reco Sara to 2,040gns and heifers by Oakroyal Roland to 1,800gns.
The 2007 born British Friesian Bull Nerewater Mate from H G Tincknell demonstrated the popularity of the breed when he sold for 2,050gns.
The final dispersal of the day was for L E Simmons and Partners who milked a wide mixture of breeds and the incalf Montbeliarde X due November sold for 1,250gns and their Pedigree British Blue Bull born 2006 sold to 1,680gns.
In-calf heifers from E T Summerfield and Son sold to 1,600gns for Poynings D Buckeye Marigold 2nd due October and commercial heifers Pd’d five months in-calf from F G Knapman and Co sold to 1,320gns.
Bulling heifers from A J Bennett and Sons’ Lilylane herd sold to 1,100gns for Lilylane Buster Anita 78th by the homebred Buster bull.
Maiden Heifers from N J Tory and Partners sold to 840gns for Cowleaze Myra 233rd by Oakroyal Fudge with Yearling and Younger Heifers from A and P Bradford selling to 730gns for daughters of Fidelity.
