Aberkinsey Charollais flock top 1,520gns

Buyers from Dumfries toDevon came to purchase ewes of the highest quality from renowned Charollaisbreeder Meilir O Jones of the Aberkinsey flock at the weekend.

 

The quality of thestock was reflected in the prices with nine ewes exceeding 1,000gns.

 

The highest priced eweof the day was lot 29, a two-year-old ewe, scanned in lamb with twins. She is siredby Skelton Whin Istabraq and was Ai’d to Bachymbyd Jack Daniels, which sold for1,520gns to A Main, Ewelme, Oxon. 

 

In the shearling ewesection the highest price went to lot 85, sired by Bachymbyd Jack Daniels, DamYBJ8108. She is carrying twins to Skelton Whin Istabraq, which sold for 1,300gnsto Scott Radley, Loaningfoot, Dumfries.

 

Jamie Wild was lookingto increase his Redhill Charollais flock in Rutland and picked out another JackDaniels shearling ewe (Lot 78) at 1,300 gns.  She is carrying twins to the Skelton Whin Istabraqsire.  He took another shearling at1,100gns this time sired by Aberkinsey Jonesie, but due to have twins by theBachymbyd tup. 

 

A two-shear ewe (Lot22) by Foulrice Eurostar was the choice at 1,300 gns of Yorkshire breeder byRobert Tindall for his Linton Springs flock. 

 

Anglesey breeders H andM Evans took two of the 1,000gns plus shearling ewes, lot numbers 94 and63.  Both their purchases were byIstabraq, and in lamb to Jack Daniels, obviously a popular combination on theday.

Edward Morgan fromCaerfyrddin went to 1,050 ns for a two-shear ewe (Lot 25) again by Istabraq butthis time carrying triplets to Foulrice Eurtostar.
