Zwartbles females make 1,500gns top price at Carlisle

Zwartbles females met a top price of 1,500gns at Carlisle on Friday (22 November).

 

Leading the sale was the reserve champion ewe lamb Brookdene Ann from RJ Heigh, Bentham, near Lancaster.

She won breed champion at Otley Show this year and is sired by Woodston Pedrog and is out of an East Middle dam. Purchaser was C and K Milburn, Malton, North Yorkshire.

 

Earning the next best price of 1,000gns was the third prize ewe lamb Tardoes Ace Sarah, from Matthew Simpson, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

Sired by Cynefin Smotyn and out of a Tardoes Pauper Prince dam she won third prize at the Royal Highland show this summer. She was bought by WR and JE Dixon, Aspatria, Cumbria.

 

Selling at 780gns was the day’s supreme champion, the shearling ewe Eldon Hill Wait’ N See from Stuart Craig, Melrose, Roxburghshire.

This daughter of Tardoes Tartan Toff is out of an East Middle sired dam and boasts an EBV index of +134, within the top 25% of the breed. She sold to DA Moir, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, having been served to Wallridge Moor Tatanlea.

 

Then selling at 650gns was Mrs Josella Scott’s first prize aged ewe Scottfair Tamsin, from Kirklinton, Carlisle.

Sired by Scottfair Sir Stanley and out of an East Middle sired dam she sold to N Henderson, Stirling, having run with the 2012 Ballymena show champion Killymallaght WIL.I.AM.

 

John Thorburn’s ewe lamb Holmlea Ash, from Eastriggs, Dumfriess, secured him a leading bid of 580gns from K and C Cowin, Lanark.

Sired by Skyhigh Tiptop she is out of the Skyhigh dam Saltur.
