Lambs lead Lancaster at £83/head

A similar number of lambs were forward on the week at Lancaster Monday (13 Jan), with the most sought after selling to a top of 193ppk from A and FM Bolland and Sons, Ellel, for well fleshed Texels.

Leading price a head with a bid of £83 was W Hesketh and Sons, Preston, for heavy weight lambs. The overall averaged came to 170p/kg, down on the week, due to a number of under finished lambs.

Mule lambs sold to a top of £70/head from W and A Cornall, Barnacre and averaged £68/head.
A decent entry of just over 100 cast ewes sold to a top of £81/head for Texels from J Bargh and Son, Heaton.

Mules sold to a top of £58 from W Hesketh and Sons, Preston, with others regularly making £45-£55/head to give an overall average of £49/head. Charollais sold to £68/head form PW and DW Roskell, Pilling.
