Dairy bulls top 5,000gns at Borderway market spring show and sale

Dairy bulls sold to a high of 5,000gns at the Border and Lakeland club spring bull show and sale, at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, last week (9 April).

 

Sale topper was overall champion Berryholme Whirlwind, from H Wright and Son, Kendal, Cumbria.

Sired by Gillette Windbrook he is out of the two times All Britain winner Holmland Storm Flo Ex94. He was purchased by Greentower Farms, Cartland, Lanark.

 

Two lots sold for 4,500gns. First of these was Warnelview Rush from KJ and CS Wilson, Thursby, Carlisle. This 14-month-old is sired by Amighetti Numero Uno and is out of a homebred dam, classified VG88. Buyer was CW and DE Bushby, Egremont, Cumbria.

 

Second at this price was Basil Lawson’s British Friesian Lismulligan Governor, from Largoward, Fife. Sired by Lismulligan Mufasa he is out of a homebred dam. He was knocked down to Messrs J Dickinson, Wigton, Cumbria.

 

Back with the Wilson family with a bid of 3,600gns for their 15-month-old bull Warnelview Russell. Sired by Crackholm Fever this one is out of a homebred dam, classified Ex94. He was purchased by ME Weightman, Wigton, Cumbria.

 

A trio of 3,500gns followed. First of these was for Messrs Hodgson’s Go-Farm Artes son Wormanby Lewis, from Burgh by Sands. Buyer was Hardgrave Farm, Dumfriesshire. Next was Glasgow-based J Brewster’s Genervations Epic son Boclair Sparko. He returned to Scotland with C Innes and Sons, Nairn, Invernessshire. Last at 3,500gns was S and A Morley’s Petteril CrackerJack, sired by Peteril Gallahad. He travelled home with MJ and M Wilson to Wigton.
